Professional Experience spotlight: Learning from DEI coaches and consultants, with Taylor Molina ’25
For her Professional Experience, Taylor Molina ’25 is in Los Angeles this fall to intern with Becoming Better Together (BBT), a collective of coaches and consultants.
Taylor said it’s been eye-opening to see the impact of BBT’s work in helping people authentically “show up in their workspaces.”
“When I told people I wanted to mix DEI work with education to truly make people’s lives better, many told me that job didn’t exist,” she said. “Here, it’s been magical seeing that, not only does that job exist, but it makes a difference, too.”
Before her Professional Experience in California, Taylor was on a stop-out to intern as a conservation educator through the Wilderness Explorer program at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park in Bay Lake, Florida. A stop-out is when a scholar chooses to un-enroll from the University for an academic semester or year after already beginning their undergraduate experience, and activities are not funded by the Morehead-Cain.
For Professional Experience, scholars take part in an approved internship or pursue a startup idea of their own. They learn invaluable professional skills that will serve them well in their careers—whether it be in private business, nonprofit, or self-directed entrepreneurship.
