Jona Boçari (Jona)
Jona earned a BA with highest distinction in history with highest honors and mathematics. At Carolina, she served with the Community Empowerment Fund (CEF) and the Honor System’s Attorney General’s Staff all four years. A member of Phi Beta Kappa, Jona helped organize a foreign policy lecture series, offered as GLBL 381: Great Decisions. Excited about people, stories, and storytelling, Jona engaged in various research endeavors, from working with the Southern Oral History Program to working directly in UNC’s History Department. Her academic interests culminated with a senior honors thesis studying issues of gender and post-war memory construction, for which she was awarded the Tom and Elizabeth Long Research Award. Passionate about housing security and racial justice, Jona most enjoyed working at CEF to invest in the greater communities of Chapel Hill and Carrboro.
